Our challenges
- Mental Health
- Infection Resilience
- Medicines Optimisation
- Public Health
- Methods and Infrastructure
Meeting these challenges builds on Liverpool’s existing research strengths in infection, medicines, and public health, plus emerging strength in mental health. They share common challenges of complexity and inequality, needing better data insights to understand whole systems of health and care.
Our research is also strategically aligned with the urgent health challenges outlined by the World Health Organization for the next decade. From the pursuit of healthcare equity to expanding access to medicines, tackling infectious diseases, and preparing for epidemics, we are dedicated to addressing these critical issues.
We also emphasise the importance of investing in the individuals who deliver health services, earning public trust, harnessing new technologies, and safeguarding the medicines that protect us all.
Through CHIL we have created an environment to fuse different kinds of expertise in creating and evaluating data-intensive solutions to some of society’s most challenging health problems.
